Summary

Breeding to early ripening has a special place in tomato selection in the Centre for Vegetable Crops in Smederevska Palanka. At the same time this is one of the first requests in tomato hybrid selection in order to get yield with the best market price and to have payable tomato variety in expensive green houses. By continually selecting varieties, we created new tomato genotypes with genetic possibility of high yield, early ripening, quality fruits and resistance to plant diseases. New tomato hybrids Marko F1, Nada F1 and Šampion F1 are tolerant to stress outdoor conditions, suitable for growing in greenhouses and represent the new quality which is being recommended to vegetable producers. Old tomato hybrids Balkan F1, Mi-13 F1, Atina F1 as well as new and perspective combinations (K-15 and K-69) with their early ripening and rich yield, could have maximal results by using adequate agro techniques.
