SUMMARY
The paper deals with the effect of two included time of basic tillage and presowing preparation for maize on the floristic composition of weed sinuzia. The trial was carried-out at the experimental field in Indjija (Eastern Srem) on chernozem soil type. The folowing time of basic plowing and presowing preparation were included in investigations:
A- plowing in autumn- clasical tillage, moldboard ploughing to the depth 25 cm Plowing in spring- tillage with moldboard ploughing to the depth 20 cm
B - Presowing preparation by:
l - Harrowing
2- Disc-harrowing
3 - 2 x disc-harrowing
4 - 2 x disc-harrowing + harrowing
The folowing characteristics of floristic composition were studied: total number of weeds, number of annual and perennial weed entities and aboveground biomass in maize sinuzia. On the basis of two—year study (1995--1996) of the effect time of basic tillage and presowing preparation on floristic composition of weeds in maize and yield, it may be infered that:
Plowing in autumn with intensive presowing preparation decreased total number of weed individuals and above ground mass and maize yield. Basic plowing during the spring increased a risk from perennial weeds especially one geophyta species Sorghum halepense Pers., which influenced certain decrease of maize yield
